31st International Chemistry Olympiad

This took place from the 4th July to the 11th July 1999 in Bangkok, Thailand. I represented Australia with three other high-school students. Have a look at my photos with a short commentary on each one.

Hamersly Iron WA Schools Olympiad

This is run by Dr Peter Simpson of UWA for students in years 9-11, although younger students are accepted. The course is run fortnightly on Saturday mornings from 9-12. It starts in term 3 with four lectures for ~250 students in year 9 or lower. An optional test is held at the end of these sessions with the top 20 or so students being selcted to continue.

In the final year, the scholars go on a week long trip to Hamersly's operations in the Pilbara, including Dampier, Tom Price, Marandoo, Paraburdoo and Channar. You can look at my report if you're interested.
